Last night I had the fun of getting together with a friend. It was so much fun to sit down and talk with her for hours. We haven't seen each other for at least 2 years, but after exchanging a hug we sat down to talk like it was just yesterday when we last spoke. I love how good friends can do this. But then I always wonder why our lives get so busy in the first place.
Isn't technology suppose to free us up so that we can get together with family and friends more often? I think that is one of the biggest lies of our generation. Oh we will have so much more time to spend with family if we just throw a pizza in the microwave for supper. Then we can go on facebook or twitter our friends to see what they are doing. All of these things seem to tie us up more than free us up.
People are always amazed at me and how I can leave my cellphone at home. I guess it is because I like being out of touch. If I want to go for a walk or a weekend get away, that is what I do.... get away from my phone. Maybe it is the idea that I do not feel "important" to people.
I am not sure, but I do know that I am thankful that I can still walk away from technology. I am glad that I can find the time to reconnect with friends.
